Hi all,
We have some friends that have some great camps up on Rangely Lake. They are looking for a reason to stay open, late this year as their hunters are not coming in droves as they used too. I am looking to get a group from the club to commit to two nights 8, 9 or 10 to stay up there. If we get a group they will put on a pig roast for us at no extra charge! It is a neat place, right on the lake and Dot and Sonny are bikers too. Cabins are old style with franklin fireplaces and kitchenets. Nothing fancy but it would be agreat spot to start rides from. Rates range from $85 for One bedroom to Four bedroom at $175. Go to
http://www.northcamps.com for more information. If you are interested please email the prez no later than 9/25. Hopefully the great weather will continue right through October.

Bob and I are starting the planning for the 2011 Maine 400 Rally. The 2010 Rally was a great success for the people that rode it. They all had a great time, a great ride around the state, and said they'd do it again. In addition, it seemed to really work well in conjunction with the DownEast Rally.

We'd like to get more people riding in the rally next year. So, we're tossing around thoughts of the best day to run the rally, and beginning to think about next year's bonus points. We'd also like to get more BMW RSM members enrolled in riding in the rally.

Watch this area (Other Events) and this thread for discussions on the rally. If you have feedback, reply to these posts. We're working on a poll that we may post here to get more specific feedback.

In the meantime, would you ride the rally if it were held that Friday (May 20th), of the DownEast Rally weekend? The starting time would be 7am at a location in Southern Maine, would take you all over Maine, and wrap up about 5pm at Hermit Island. This is all tentative now, but we're looking for feedback.

Thanks,

Summer is almost gone. We should have plenty of great weather left.

- Sept 4, 5 Owls Head Antique Motorcycle Rally. Rally is 2 days this year. Most riders attend Sunday, the 5th, weather permitting. We have the club meeting on Saturday, the 4th and some members may ride up after the meeting. I plan on having breakfast at the Fairgrounds Restaurant at the Topsham Fair Mall at 8:00am on Sunday, the 5th. Great meal last year and great parking. free admission for bikes 25 years and older. Always great turnout.

- Sept. 10,11,12 BMWMOV Green Mt Rally. Some of us who are members are riding over on the 9th to help set up as needed. Check out their web site if interested. (www.VTBMWMOV.org May be too late to get a cabin.

- Sept 15 Dinner ride at Blast from the Past Diner in Waterboro, near 202 and RT. 5 North. Arrive around 6:00 PM.

- Sept 17,18 &19 Black Diamond Rally in Penn. Always popular with our club and should be a good turn out. Some members leaving on the 16th and stopping in New York.

- Sept 26 Washington County ride to Helen's for lunch on Sept. 26. Leave Streets at 6:30 AM. Breakfast at Moody's, back roads to Belfast, gas in Ellsworth.
Wow! Excited? Oh. You're probably saying "huh?". Ok. So, here's the deal. There is something in the internet world called RSS feeds that you can subscribe to in 'Readers'. My Yahoo has a Reader feature where you can subscribe to multiple blogs and feeds and read the highlights of the activity without actually visiting the sites. Whew, that's a mouthful.

If you're interested in viewing multiple sites at once to read news, then someplace like My Yahoo is worth checking out.

Now... here's how you add the BMW RSM Forums RSS feed to one of these places. There is a link at the bottom of the page here that would walk you through creating an RSS link. BUT, you don't have to do that. Just use the link I'm listing below to get a RSS feed for all the public forums here.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/BmwRsmForums
If you already have an RSS Reader and have any questions about this feed, drop me a note or reply to this post. If not, then I suggest getting a Yahoo account and setting up your RSS feeds in the my.yahoo.com area.

The 8th was a real nice day and the GS was begging for some rubber removal time, so I did the right thing and made it happen. No particular place to go except back home sometime.
Rt 109 to Sanbornville and then we found 153 and made a couple of detours off that and eventually ended up in Conway. Kinda ticks ya off that they put a traffic light right in my way and the stupid cages all wanted to turn rather than head down the West Rd. Don't stay on that for long as the Passaconnaway Rd is just down there on the left. This is a nice meander on the other side of the Swift and end up at the Albany Covered Bridge.
The Kanc is right there and that takes ya to the Bear Notch crossover. Almost seems like that is a forgotten drive as traffic was almost nonexistent.
Then comes 302 back to the Hurricane Mt tour, with a side stop at Ragged Mt gear. They have all sorts of 'stuff' that need to looked over every so often.
Hurricane was low on traffic too and it almost seemed that that 21" front got a little light at some places, but I was probably just dreaming that part. Only had to pass 2-3 cages on the way up and got behind another bike at the end. There was a 400 cc that caught up to me too, but we just stayed in line till the end.
From there you can go left and thru the pass or right and head to Fryburg. I went right and took some other detours, Haleytown Rd and ended up on 160 that brings ya to Bay Haven and a plate of clams and shrimp.
Easy jaunt that has decent smilage with it..

Till next time
