This weather has NOT been good for late season riding this year! If you live in the paved world, you may be able to get your bike to the road and get some cool, but dry riding in. Of course, if you’re a GS rider that enjoys slippery routes and mud then you’re likely to not be bothered by this white stuff.
No matter where your entry onto the paved roads are, the December BMWRSM club meeting is coming right up on us. This week is calling for balmier weather, a little rain, and then cooling off into the 40s later in the week. ‘Weather’ or not you take your bike out, this coming Saturday, December 3rd is the final meeting of the year and once again will be held at Cole Farm’s Restaurant in Gray. If you’re not familiar with the location and times, then be sure to see our full meeting information on the home page.
This coming meeting Mike Lydon will be collecting any coats you may have for the Coats for Kids. So, don’t forget to bring in what you can, all sizes. Mike will fill his sidecar and deliver them to the program.
Also, since this is the December meeting, 2012 dues are being collected by Treasurer Bob Griffin. So, bring a check made out to BMW RSM. If you give Bob cash, please be kind and give him an envelope with your information (name, address, phone, email, etc) so he can keep track of it.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday and survived the insanity of Black Friday. Bring an appetite and join us for breakfast and our monthly meeting on the 3rd. And, most of all, if you are out riding, be safe and Keep the Shiny Side Up.

The business of modifying the BMW RSM club logo has taken a higher priority this month. The topic was raised at the October club meeting, but unfortunately I wasn’t present. Jim sent out a few emails to the club yesterday with a representation of what the new logo might look like. A few people replied to the email list so I know there was some response.
Muriel Farrington (BMWRSM member), of the Vermont club, also responded and sent some recommended updates to Jim. Muriel, I believe, has also been involved with the BMW logo project within BMW Motorcycle Owners of America.
The membership list has a restricted use policy, so only certain officers can send messages. I put Muriel’s messages through because they were directly addressing Jim’s reference to the physical logo design. Other messages were rejected to the list because they were extending a conversation that belongs elsewhere. The messages did go to Jim however, for those that sent them.
To provide a place for the membership to discuss the new logo, I’ve created a thread in our BMW RSM Forums Members area. You will need to login to access this and participate. If you are a member, are registered, and don’t see the Members forums in the lower section then please send me a note and I will update your group status so you can see them. Here is the link – BMW Club Logo thread. Remember, you will not be able to see this unless you are registered and signed in. If you have trouble getting registered or logged in, send the Administrator a message and I’ll help you.

Wow! What a way to wrap up the summer! Hurricane, ah, tropical storm Irene. Even though it/she wasn’t as strong as most, we managed to lose power and have a lot of downed trees and debris on the roadways. Ride safe on those back roads and watch for that debris still on the roads.
Even though the schools are starting up again, summer isn’t over yet. We still have a few more weeks of summer riding to take advantage of. I’m sure more than a few folks are going to take advantage of the long Labor Day weekend to get a few rides in. So, enjoy the cooler weather and be safe in the holiday traffic that will be up our way.
September is about here and so is our next club meeting. We’re heading back to Cole Farms in September, but instead of the first Saturday, we’ll be meeting September 10th due to the holiday. Join the club at Cole Farms Restaurant in Gray for coffee, breakfast, and our monthly meeting. We’ll have a few members that will be off to Vermont for a rally that weekend, but we’re still expecting a good turnout.
See our main page for details on the time and location for the September Club Meeting. See you there!

This is a bit of a last minute reminder that the August Club meeting is being held at the home of Bill and Jeannie Parker. They live at 122 Store Rd, West Bowdoin. I have posted a link to a map for their place in the meeting announcement on the BMWRSM main page. You can figure out your route to their place.
I personally don’t expect to be there, unfortunately, but if someone could snap some digital pics for me I’d appreciate it. Enjoy the fare and have a great time and great ride.
